Schmitt has engineered breakthrough albums in a variety of musical genres with some of the top artists in the industry, including Barbara Streisand, Madonna, Jefferson Airplane, Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, George Benson and Quincy Jones. Schmitt's celebrated engineering and mixing skills are showcased on over 150 Gold and Platinum albums. In 1997, Schmitt was inducted into the TEC Awards Hall of Fame, and in 2005 he received the Trustees Award for Lifetime Achievement by the Recording Academy.
