Steve Porcaro

Coming from a musical family, Steve started piano lessons at the age of four. After playing in various bands with his brothers Jeff and Mike, Steve joined Gary Wright’s Dream Weaver‚ tour in 1975 at the age of 17. Steve was a founding member and contributing songwriter of the band Toto where he went on to win Grammy’s for Album, Producer, and Record of the Year in 1982. Steve maintained his career as one of the most sought after keyboard session players in Los Angeles. While working with such artists as Michael Jackson, Don Henley, Barbra Streisand, and Elton John, Steve was recognized by Keyboard Magazine as “Session Player of The Year” two times. Steve composed and co-wrote the music for “Human Nature” from Michael Jackson’s Thriller album. He also played keyboards on the title track of Yes’ “Open Your Eyes” album (1997), and on their “Union” album (1991). While continuing his career as a session player and songwriter, Steve has recently been working with composer James Newton Howard on many of James’ scores including The Fugitive, Outbreak, and Waterworld. Steve Porcaro continues to be an active composer for film, television, and music.
