8x4x2 Desktop Recording Studio with Cubase LE 4 and Lexicon Pantheon Reverb Plug-In

CONTAINS ALL THE COMPONENTS NECESSARY TO TRANSFORM YOUR COMPUTER INTO A PROFESSIONAL 24-BIT RECORDING STUDIO.
PURE INSPIRATION
The recording professionals at Lexicon Pro know a thing or two about great audio - that famed Lexicon reverb "sound" has been on just about every hit recording since we invented digital reverb more than 30 years ago. So when we set out to bring that sound home - we got truly inspired.
THE COMPLETE SYSTEM
Nothing is more frustrating than buying a "recording system" only to find out that you need a gaggle of extras just to make it all work. Omega Studio is a completely integrated computer recording system that includes the Omega 8x4x2 USB I/O Mixer, Steinberg's® Cubase LE audio and MIDI recording software, and Lexicon's world-class Pantheon VST Reverb plug-in. The Omega Desktop Recording Studio quite literally contains all the necessary components to transform your computer into a professional 24-bit recording studio - all in one box.
A REAL MIXER
Unlike standard computer I/O boxes based on a patch bay concept, the Lexicon Omega Studio is designed and built around the same paradigm as large-format recording consoles. An 8-input, 4-Bus, 2-output USB I/O mixer with inserts, instrument input, MIDI I/O and complete metering and monitoring functions gives you the freedom to record up to 4 tracks at once and mix without the need for additional mixing hardware.
Two dbx Silver Series® mic preamps with 48V phantom power provide a pristine front end for high-end condenser or more common dynamic microphones, insuring premium sound quality from the first take to the last. TRS insert points allow you to plug in your favorite dynamic processors before the signal reaches one of the 4 busses, where 24-bit converters transform the analog signal into a digital masterpiece.
Four servo-balanced TRS line inputs with up to +22dBu input levels let you hook up everything from keyboards to guitar preamps, including high-output professional gear. Stereo digital inputs are available via SPDIF jacks, and an additional high-impedance instrument input is included on the front panel for easy access to guitars and basses.
Finally, a fully opto-isolated MIDI input to ensures that there is no annoying ground loop hum or MIDI talk-through noise common with many I/O boxes and sound cards; MIDI output has rock-solid synchronization to USB frame rate to support applications requiring critical sync.
The Omega I/O mixer also features channel peak indicators for each analog input as well as an assignable bargraph meter for the 4 busses. By monitoring the signal before the A/D converters, clipping and distortion can be averted, unlike software-only level monitoring that can miss "overs", ruining the track.
All these gazintas and getoutzas are put together just like a big recording console, with input gain controls, four recording busses, and full monitoring features, in one attractive, portable I/O Mixer. Just plug it into your Mac or PC computer with the included USB cable, and you're instantly ready to capture the moment.

| I would like to use the Omega on a laptop computer. Will there be any problems? |
Most laptops have slower hard-drives that run at 4200 or 5400 rpm instead of the faster 7200 rpm drives commonly found in desk-top computers. For this reason, laptops can have problems running recording software optimally. It may be possible to record successfully if your laptop has a slower hard drive, but you will experience problems if the demands of the software exceed the limitations of the hardware. |

| I am attempting to install the Omega but the computer will not recognize the Omega. What is wrong? |
You may need to reset the Omega if it is not being recognized by the computer.
When the Omega is disconnected from USB and powered on the blue USB LED on the face of the Omega should flash slowly. If the LED is lit solid blue when the USB cable is disconnected you will need to reset the Omega.
To reset the Omega disconnect the USB and power cables from the Omega then simultaneously press and hold the 1st and 3rd USB Assign buttons (one between the Mic 1 and Mic 2, the other between Line 3 and Line 4) and reconnect the power cable to the back of the Omega. Continue to hold the USB Assign buttons for until the LED’s between the Line 1 and Line 2 knobs flash then release the buttons and reconnect the USB cable. If the Omega is still not recognized by the computer, try using another USB cable. |
| I connected the Omega to my computer and now I cannot hear any sounds from my computer's speakers. What happened? |
Be sure the Monitor Mix knob on the Omega is set to around the 12:00 position. The Monitor Mix knob lets you decide between hearing direct input or playback from the computer or a mix of both.
Your computers sounds can be routed to the Omega or your computers built in sound card. To check which device is selected go to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio; the device that is selected for Playback will output your Windows sounds. To hear these sounds, your computer speakers, powered monitors or stereo system will need to be connected to the outputs of the selected device.
The device setup for Cubase LE is independent of the Sounds and Audio Device settings found in the Windows Control Panel. To set up the Omega in Cubase go to Devices > Device Setup > VST Multitrack and select the Lexicon or Omega ASIO driver in the ASIO driver dropdown menu. To hear sound from Cubase, your computer speakers, powered monitors or stereo system will need to be connected to the outputs of the Omega. |
| I am using the Omega on a slower computer and I am having issues with poor performance in my Recording software, is there anything I can do to improve this? |
You may be able to improve your systems performance by changing the following system properties settings. To do this go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Advanced and click on the ‘Settings’ button in the performance area and choose ‘Adjust for best Performance’. Next click on the ‘Advanced’ tab in the performance options window and select ‘Background services’ in the processor scheduling area. You may be able to improve your systems performance by defragmenting your computers hard. To do this, go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter. Select Local Disk C: drive and click on Defragment. Please note that defragmenting a hard drive may take a few hours. |
| I have connected the Omega to my computer and installed the software but I am not able to record. |
Make sure that the drivers have been installed correctly by checking the Device Manager.
To access the Device Manager: Windows XP – Start > Run > type devmgmt.msc and push enter. Windows Vista – Start > type Device Manager in the search field and double-click Device Manager in the program list.
Expand the section titled Sound, video, and game controllers and the Omega should appear as 4 devices that should be labeled as follows:
